Kettlebell Instructors certification course JHB

News

We'll be holding the first level 1 certification course for 2012 on 28/29 January 2012 in Johannesburg

10h00-17h00 on Saturday & 08h00-16h00 on Sunday (Depends on the group - could be quicker).

There is some info on courses here. (see KSI-1). The course has been updated to include the latest cutting edge kettlebell technology fresh from IKFF/Steve Cotter and the finest coaches in the world. Anyone who has previously completed the KSI course(s) is encouraged to attend this course for a skills update/refresh. The cost for the review/refresh will be similar to the Master Class fee.

To complete the level 1 course you need to pass 2 tests. One is a physical test, and the other a teaching test.
The physical test is a snatch test where you need to attain a Rank III (on the snatch component only) for your body weight.
(On the linked table, the snatches is the number on each hand that you need to do. eg 75kg/165lb 58/55+55 means .. if you weigh 70.1-75kg, you must do 55 snatches on each hand using a 16kg kettlebell).

Unlike the international courses, where you only have the 2 or 3 days that you're on course to pass...since we are all in close proximity, you can come and take the test anytime - it's free, and there is no limit as to how many times you try (all this will be explained in detail on the course).

20120101 - 07h00 - The 2012 snatch challenge

Workouts

A while ago I mentioned to @SteveCotterIKFF that we had attempted the 1001 snatches without a hand change, using 12kg(men) and 10kg(ladies). I thought it was pretty good going ...
Steve said..."That doesn't make sense...why didn't you do 2002 - 1001 on each hand? In fact 2012 makes more sense!"

So, todays workout/challenge...
Snatches 2012 reps with 1 hand change ie. ~1006 per hand if you do the hand switch at the halfway mark.

Men:12kg
Ladies:8kg
Do NOT put down. You may rest in the OVERHEAD position only.

We started out at 19rpm...but it was too fast, so we aborted the set after 13mins (247reps), rested for a few minutes and restarted (from scratch/0) at 17rpm. At the end, we threw in about 100 extra reps, just to be sure :)

Thank you to @SteveCotterIKFF for the inspiration to undertake this challenge.
2012 snatches with ONE hand change. 2012 is gonna be a GOOOOD year.
